Frequently asked questions about our removals and storage services

Get answers to some of our frequently asked questions

Ideally as soon as you know you are moving, especially if you are moving during busy periods such as over the summer or Christmas holidays.

This is the most frequently asked question, as a rough guide the cost of a removal is usually based on the volume of belongings you are wishing to move, the distance you are moving and the services you select. To get an accurate quote we advise booking an appointment with a removals specialist for a free no obligation quotation. If your move is flexible, not subject to keys or small then an hourly rate move would be more suitable.

The pre-move survey allows us to accurately assess the volume of goods that need to be moved, size of vehicle(s) required and the manpower needed. This enables us to provide an accurate fixed price quotation for our services. It also gives you the chance to raise any concerns and ask questions. At this point you should also get a feel for our company and know that its a company you can trust with your possessions. If you decide not to have a pre-move survey then we can offer an hourly rate for your removals or you can complete our online self survey form.

Bookings are made on a first come, first served basis and are subject to availability. When a definite moving date is known, you can place a confirmed booking with us.

Full payment is to be made in advance of your move, ususally at the time of booking. If it’s an hourly move, the minimum of the first 2 hours will be required at booking and the balance on the day of the move.

This is really down to personal preference and time. If you are happy and able to pack your possessions, then this may be the choice for you. However, if you are busy or would like peace of mind that a professional has done it for you then a packing service may be the choice for you. Whatever your requirements discuss them with us.

Packaging materials are included on all our gold and platinum packages. We do have the option to purchase packaging materials for all other packages. Please let us know if you would like us to supply your packaging materials.

We do provide heavy duty wardrobe boxes as standard (subject to availability) for your use on moving day. Please note that these boxes must be returned on completion of your move.

If you require wardrobe boxes for a longer period of time, we do have a cardboard version available to purchase.

We have a range of padded protection covers for TV’s, pictures, sofas, mattresses and appliances in addition to heavy duty removal blankets.

We do recommend that you ensure lamps, lampshades, bulbs, vases, statues, pictures and mirrors are suitably protected for safe transportation due to their delicate nature.

No, we do not disconnect or re-connect any of these items. You must ensure that these items are disconnected by a professional trades person prior to our arrival on your moving day.

No, we do not take down any of these items or any other items attached to the masonry. Please ensure these are taken down in readiness for your move.

Yes, you must empty, defrost and clean these items in readiness for transportation.

If you have chosen one of our packing services then leave it to us. Otherwise, breakables and heavy items should be removed from drawers and packed separately. Clothes, towels, linen and lighter non breakable items can be left in the drawers and our team will ensure they are secured ready for transport.

We do request that customers empty their lofts where possible. However, we are happy to do this in exceptional circumstances providing there is safe and suitable access. Please discuss this with us.

If you need assistance with dismantling and reassembling of furniture please advise us so we can ensure it is included on your quotation. Our team are always on hand to help and if you find you are struggling to get everything done in time for your move just let us know.

We are happy to move outdoor goods providing they are in good, clean condition. Plants must be bagged by you, preferably in heavy duty rubble sacks. Please inform us at the point of quotation of any garden items to be moved.

Our quotations are prepared on the assumption that you will have your keys and full access to your new property by 2pm. If access cannot be gained by 2pm, there will be a charge of £60 plus VAT per hour, or part thereof, until access can be gained.

With this in mind, we do offer a key waiver which can save you money and stress should you not have access to your property on time. Our key waiver can be purchased prior to your move at the cost of £60 plus VAT and will prevent you incurring any additional charges between the hours of 2pm and 5pm. This gives you peace of mind, the security of 3 hours waiting time and a saving of £144. Further details of our key waiver can be provided on request.
